Nice place. One of my favorite restaurant in area

An oyster bar with no oysters. I ordered a platter with oysters. Instead of the waitress telling me they had none she took it upon herself to make substitutions without asking me or telling me. I had to call her out on it to get the truth. Also they advertised 2 whole fish fillets on the platter. Instead you get a single fish fillet cut in half poised as 2. This is lying on your menu. The health department can fine you for this. Bad business practice even more so with the amount of competition in the area. They will be out of business within 2 years.

I went over to Playa Azul cause I read a review that they had the best and biggest oysters in town, but I think that was an understatement. Their oysters are fantastic, ceviche was magical, and the service was impecable. Fernando the owner made me feel like I was at home. I just found my new favorite seafood joint.

Simply Amazing!!! I love "hole in the wall" seafood joints, and Playa Azul is at the top of my favorites list. Service--EXCELLENT. Our server made sure our glasses were always full, and our food was brought to the table quickly. In fact, my bowl of gumbo arrived 2 minutes after ordering.Food--EXCELLENT. I had the Playa Azul platter and a bowl of gumbo. The gumbo was as good as any I've ever had--even New Orleans!!!The fried food was very good--light breading, and added just enough flavor.Oysters were fantastic, too.As far as one reviewer stated; "this place is obviously not for white ppl"--that's just a racist and uneducated remark!!! Sorry, but the "whites only" crap went out decades ago. Yes, Playa Azul is run by Hispanics--so what???Makes the food better.Bottom line--we'll be eating here again!!!

Awesome ceviche, quick and friendly service. The Al pastor tacos are unbelievable and you wouldn't know it was fish if they didn't tell you.

In a scale of 1-10 food is like 6 or 7. Ok service but my last time the service was horrible. This girl was taking my order then started putting chairs on place, never pay atencion so after 10 minutes come back to ask what was my order, 2 minutes lat again so at end I had to repeat my order 4 times and even then wasn't right.. I didn't make any change on the plate it was only (camaron aguachile) 🤷‍♀️

True Mexican seafood! Love the Cancun, the shrimp cocktail and the gumbo. My husband and I drove by this place for years before we finally decided to chance a visit. We missed out on some great seafood at very reasonable prices. Love the bloody Mary with a little kick!

Really liked their gumbo. I don't normally do fried seafood, but the fried shrimp had a great flavor and the model was cold. Service was quick and bartender was friendly with quick menu suggestions. We will definitely be returning to try different items.

Found this place driving around town. Great service and ice cold beer. The seafood was fantastic and fresh, Great job.

This restaurant does not wear masks in the kitchen. Manager took to arguing with me about it when I was clearly looking at two employees in the kitchen serving area without masks on. Observed him as well coming out of the kitchen and putting on his mask in the dining area to speak to a customer. Wait staff was spot on. But due to his demeanor, I will never go back!

Love this place. Used to go every Monday. Now that I’ve moved, I don’t visit as much. Outstanding customer service! Everyone is friendly. They have my favorite Mexican beer (Pacifico). The oysters on the half shell are fresh and big. The ceviche is really good too! Can’t beat their margarita specials either.

Excellent seviche good service

Came to this place because a friend recommended the ceviche. When we arrived the place was supper hot we had to ask for the A/C to be turned down. We placed our drink order and the waitress dint bring everything we asked for. We finally placed our food order and the food was not good. They also brought us the wrong order and after we ate from that plate the waitress said if we wanted to finish that plate we would need to pay for it. That was just bad customer service due to the fact that it was her mistake now ours. One of the ladies that was in our group asked for the wine list she dint know it so the waitress said she would be right back. She never came back until we asked for the check. We reminded her that we asked for the wine list she said she had to take care of other tables. This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced and the food is not worth it save your money and go somewhere else. If I could give this place 0 star's I would.

Gotta admit if you’re looking for THE BEST GUMBO in town, this is the place you want to come to! Won’t go anywhere else after trying this spot! The staff is super friendly and very fast! Will definitely be coming back!

Not impressed,I was told that it was the best for crab.Crab was not even on the menu.I could smell fish as soon as I entered the place.Service was not up to my standards.I expect attentive wait staff and for all of our food to come out at one time,This is especially important to us as we wait to bless our food.and it makes it even worse when you have to battle flies as you wait.Food was not worth the wait.Just my opinion.

I always like this place. Aguachiles were perfect.

Freaking love this place! All of their food is delicious and at reasonable prices. Stuffed crab and gumbo are incomparable. I really liked goin to Captain Toms down the road on 1960 but it is always too packed, plus Playa Azul has more selection and variety in regard to food and beverages. Whenever you come to a place like this, you have to have a michelada; they are a must try!

Great food and service

New to Houston, usually go to Pappadeaux's for oysters. Gave this place a shot and we will not be going anywhere else! Biggest and cleanest oysters we've ever had, even comparing to our travels on the East coast! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND SERVICE WAS ON POINT!! 2 dozen oysters for $25 yet great quality.

I love this place! I come almost every other Friday with the family to enjoy some awesome micheladas. I like how they have a variety of Mexican beers. We’ve ordered almost every item from the menu and can’t say I have any complaints. Oh and the service is always great :)

I can't really eat alot of seafood and was taken here...would like it more if they offered something that wasn't a seafood besides fried veggies...but it IS marketed as a seafood place so that's not their fault. I had the catfish and fried jalapenos, food was good and portions were great. The server was very attentive and kept coming back to check on us
